Zenith Zozocolco

As the zenith of my journey I reached Zozocolco, a small mountain village in the Highlands of Veracruz.

After visiting the verz old church on the high hill,
I found a place to stay over night in the brand new hotel (the only one) of "Dona Luchy". She also gives me food and hospitality. The other village people seems to be a little afraid of me.
Only "the whip man of Zozocolco", an alcoholic, talks to me and we spent the day together in walking arround through the village. I gave him the name because he runs with his whip after the children, which angers him. He was landing in Zozocolco after serving along time for the military. We finished our nice time together in having lunch.

Peace to the shacks! War on the palaces!
In walking arround I observed the small nice shacks in the jungle, no streets, only small paths leads to the huts. I didn¨t make pictures in respect of the
private sphere. If you walk there it is like walking through sleeping- and living rooms I don"t want to be one of the first gringo of zozocolco and I have nothing better to do than running with the camera through their sleeping room. This will be on my next time here in Zozocolco;-)
I feel, it will be not my last time here.

After making siesta in my hotelroom I try to find some nice shirts or hats in the market place in the center of the village, not possible: largest size of hat is "56", largest size of shirt "36".

I went back to the hotel asking for somthing to eat. Tomorrow i will travel back to Xalapa and Mexico City and finally Germany.

Diary of Papantla and the World

As more I travel deeper to the highlands, as more I realize the reason for my foreign feelings at my home. Here in the rural areas of Veracruz I see and feel people NOT acting cause of egoism or utilitarian reasons to make profit. I remember this feelings also when I was in Kabul. I thinks this feelings are coming from my childhood, growing up in a village community. This feeling disapears completely in Germany and all over Europe. Now i come nearer to the point why I feel as a stranger in my own country.
Tomorow I will arrive in Zozocolco

Hasienda of Santa Anna

Santa Anna was serveral times president of Mexico around 1850. Somehow a shizophpen figure: First he fights against the rebbels in the spanish army as a leutenant. Than he changed and supports their leader. After the rebells won he force the leader to go to exil and names himself for president of Mexico. But in the same time he was dealing with the USA, while he sold himself best in Mexico as an enemy of USA. He was the one who sold New Mexico, Arizona, Texas and Florida for 5000 Dollars to the USA. His History would fit to theaterplays, films, poems and novels.
